According to the U.S. Department Of Veterans Affairs - over 10,000 military veterans live here in Highlands County Florida. (Some estimates place that number between 12,000 and 15,000.)
Originally known as Armistice Day from 1919 to 1953 - it became Veterans Day in 1954 - observed on the 11TH day of the 11TH month of the year. (From 1971 to 1977 it was actually observed on the 4TH Monday of October, but then in 1978 it was moved back to its original date.)
We honor all who served. We Thank You for serving your nation, so that we may be free indeed.
