It's been 7 weeks since our last Q & A, so let's go !
Q - Where is your museum located ? Don't tell me next to the Public Library because I don't know where that is either.
A - We are located at 1989 Lakeview Drive. Lakeview Drive is the main 2-lane road that runs almost completely around Lake Jackson - the big lake that you see from U.S. 27 in Sebring. We are on the other side of the big lake from U.S. 27. If you know how to get to the Circle downtown - then take West Center Avenue off the Circle, and then make a left onto Lakeview Drive. Look for our yellow / beige house on your right-hand side. We have our own small parking lot out front.
Q - What hours are you open ?
A - We are currently open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Q - What type of museum are you ?
A - We are a general history museum for Sebring and Highlands County featuring exhibits on notable people and places over the past 110+ years including George E. Sebring Jr., Charles F. Weigle, Thomas B. McGuire Jr. Rex Beach, Grayce McCoy, Highlands Hammock State Park, Hendricks Army Airfield, Sebring International Raceway, and more.
Q - I heard that the city was going to annex your property and tear down your museum. Do you know when ?
A - The city owns the property, and they also own the house. We are merely leasing it from them and taking great care of both. Although there are all kinds of wild rumors and theories about the property, the adjacent lots, and the overall lakeside area (we've all heard them) - there are no known plans to do what you heard.
Q - Can our small group use your living room space after hours for our weekly meetings ?
A - YES - And we already have a few small groups that already do that. If you've been to our Wednesday Morning Social then you'll know that we can comfortably seat about 20 people via mostly folding chairs and our couch and standard chairs. Please call our Archives Center at 863.471.2522 for availability and additional information. (Please leave a message if necessary.)
Well - that's all for now. We may have to do this again in a couple of weeks because we have more questions that we want to answer !
