It's become a monthly tradition, so let's keep it going with another Q & A !
Q - I love the recent photos of the front of your house and gardens. All you need now is a sign that says it's a museum because most people think it's a private house.
A - We're actually getting a new sign done now that will identify the house by name ("Weigle House") and by what we are ("History Museum"). The sign will hang from our front archway, and it should be seen clearly from Lakeview Drive. Look for it soon !
Q - How many Facebook pages do you have ?
A - We only have one that's official - this one - our Sebring Historical Society page. Another one was inadvertently created a few years ago, but it's dormant and we're trying to remove it.
Q - Why is your web site not useful ?
A - We actually have a brand-new web site under construction right now that should be much more useful than the current one, but it's not quite ready to reveal. Once it's looking good - we'll reveal it here on Facebook along with its brand-new URL (address).
Q - Are you hosting bus trips this winter ?
A - YES. We'll try again with our bus trips to see if they can generate more interest. A popular trip in the past has been over to Plant City for the Florida Strawberry Festival (late-February / early-March), so we may try that one again. Maybe even the Florida State Fairgrounds (also in February).
Q - Is your Archives office ever going to reopen again ?
A - YES - starting this Tuesday October 14TH we will be open from 10 AM to 1 PM - 5 days a week - from Tuesday to Saturday. If you visit the office (located below the Public Library) then you can meet our brand-new Archival Clerk. Her name is April, and she'll be there to meet and greet you and hopefully answer any questions that you may have.
Q - Is the Quarterly Luncheon still on for this month ?
A - YES - on Saturday October 25TH starting at 12 Noon at the Jack Stroup Civic Center (behind our museum). It will be catered by Bob Evans, and the suggested donation to cover the cost of the meal is $15 per person / $25 per couple. We'll post reminders about it here on Facebook over the next 2 weeks.
Well - that's all for now. Keep asking questions, and we'll answer them here, there, and everywhere.
