More questions. More answers. Let's go:
Q - Why did you schedule your bus trip to the Florida State Fair on Valentine's Day ?
A - Two dates were actually considered - Friday February 13TH and Saturday February 14TH. The latter date was ultimately chosen. We thought it would work out. Sales were well below expectations. There's a lot going on this weekend. The weather is finally nice and normal. It's a holiday weekend (Presidents' Day). The Daytona 500 is on Sunday. Our own Highlands County Fair concludes today. There's also more competition for bus trips, and that's a good thing. Highlands Transportation is doing an awesome job with a packed schedule of upcoming bus trips.
Q - I always look forward to visiting your booth at the CCC Festival at Highlands Hammock State Park. Will you be there again this year ?
A - That's actually today - the 39TH Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Festival, and that's another big event occurring locally. Admission is free at the State Park (and all Florida State Parks) all holiday weekend ! We're sorry, but we will not be there this year.
Q - Can I show up at the Lil' Rev concert without a ticket and just pay at the door ?
A - YES. Doors open at 6:30 PM this Friday February 20TH 2026 at the Jack Stroup Civic Center for this music concert starring Marc Revenson - an award-winning multi-instrumentalist musician, storyteller, poet, author, and teacher. He plays the ukulele, harmonica, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. As long as seats are available - you can get in for $25 per person. To guarantee yourself a seat come visit our Archives Center from 10 AM to 1 PM this upcoming week from Tuesday to Friday.
Q - Your last seminar with the big saber-tooth cat mural hanging on stage was awesome - one of the best ever. Loved it so much. When is the next seminar ?
A - That's our "Florida Talks" by Florida Humanities seasonal series. Our next one is on Thursday February 26TH 2026 at 4 PM at the Jack Stroup Civic Center. (Doors open at 3:30 PM.) New York Times Best-Selling Author Michael Tougias will be the Special Guest Speaker, and he will talk about those 13 days in October 1962 known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.
Q - Sometimes I don't see your posts in my feed until days later. How come ?
A - Make sure you are following this page. If you're not following then you're only going to see our posts occasionally. Also - the more you interact with our posts (likes, loves, comments, shares) - the more the Facebook algorithms will show our posts in your feed. You can also type in the first few letters of Sebring Historical Society into the Search Facebook bar, and then click on our page when it appears to go directly to it. We post once a day every Tuesday to Saturday - usually early in the morning.
Thank You for your questions this go-around. We'll do it again in March.
