Highlands Bank & Trust Company Building / Legacy 1912

Located at 200 Circle Park Drive - where North Ridgewood meets our Circle - is the historic Highlands Bank & Trust Company building. It was built in 1919 by the Sebring Real Estate Company, and it opened for business during the Summer of 1920. It replaced a much smaller building for the bank that was located a block down the road along North Ridgewood. Its construction was the start of downtown Sebring's "boom era" of the Roaring 1920s when the population of the new city nearly quadrupled from the start of the decade to the end of the decade.

The bank ultimately failed in February 1929. Several years later it became the home of the new Highlands County Bank.

Through the years since then it housed many different small businesses and community functions. It was also used as a storage facility for nearby businesses. And it also sat vacant for many years.

Nowadays it's the home of the highly rated and reviewed Legacy 1912 southern-inspired restaurant - owned and operated by the great-great-granddaughter of the founder of our "City On The Circle" - George Eugene Sebring. Be sure to check them out for lunch and dinner. They are usually open for lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM Tuesdays to Saturdays, and for dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM Fridays and Saturdays. They are currently closed for a short break, but they will reopen this Thursday July 02ND 2026.

A small group of us at the Sebring Historical Society recently enjoyed a lunch experience there, and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the beauty of the elegant building inside. The food was plentiful and delicious too. The owner and chef - Jessica - came out to greet us for a couple of minutes, and we appreciated that. We'll be back for more !
