As promised - it's Q & A time:
Q - Why am I not seeing your posts until days or weeks later ?
A - Because you're likely not following us. Click on Sebring Historical Society above, and make sure the button says "Following". If it says "Follow" then click on it, so that it changes to "Following". Followers of this page see our new posts in their feed immediately or within minutes. (Our posts are mostly seen by non-followers of this page - usually between 60% to over 90%.)
Q - I am following, but I still don't see your new posts. What can I do now ?
A - We publish a single post 5 days a week every Tuesday through Saturday - usually between 5 and 7 AM. If you click on Sebring Historical Society (or type it in to the Search Facebook bar) then you can see all of our posts - most recent on top. The more you interact with our posts (like, love, care, comment, share) - the more the algorithms of Facebook will show you our posts in your feed.
Q - Why do you promote other museums every week ?
A - Why not ? We have 11 museums here in Highlands County, as well as additional public places with museum-like artifacts and exhibits on display. We want all of our museums here to thrive. We want Highlands County - locals, seasonals, and visitors alike - to support our local history, culture, and the arts. Facebook and Social Media is a great way to get the word out on our treasures here in our paradise. Word-of-mouth is even better. Visit a museum, and tell a friend about it. Take a friend with you to explore our history.
Q - Why do you do so many fundraisers ?
A - Because in addition to memberships and donations - it's our main source of funds. It's how we pay the bills to keep our museum open. Thank You to everyone who came out to Panera Bread last Friday night (July 31ST) to enjoy a meal. We got 30% of all proceeds if you showed our flyer to the cashier or you used FUND4U electronically. We made almost $400 that night. We hope to do it again soon.
Q - I heard that the Thursday afternoon guest speaker program is returning early this season, but I haven't seen it in the newspaper or on Facebook yet. True ?
A - True. You're referring to "Florida Talks" by Florida Humanities. We're bringing it back for September, October, and November - one per month on a Thursday afternoon starting at 4 PM at the Jack Stroup Civic Center. Our first speaker - Chris Kahl (https://www.chriskahl.com) - will be telling stories and singing original songs as he takes us on "A Musical Journey Through Florida". That's on Thursday September 10TH 2026. Save the date !
Great questions. We hope we provided great answers. Keep them coming.
We'll be back in 3 days for an all-new week of posts (hopefully in your feed) - starting with #HistoryTuesday.
