Where North Ridgewood meets our Circle - it's the historic Buckeye Building - featured prominently in the photo. You can barely see the Salvation Army building on the far left. You can definitely see the Zachary Building on the right - directly on our Circle.
The Zachary Building was built first - in 1914 - by Mr. Walter B. Zachary. He served Sebring in many different public roles including City Clerk, Tax Collector, and Fire Chief.
In the beginning - Walter and his wife Mamie lived upstairs, and a couple of stores were located on the ground floor. Sebring's first post office was also located downstairs, and it stayed there until it moved to its next location a few blocks away along North Ridgewood in December 1940.
Along with many other adjacent historic buildings - the Zachary Building was placed on the National Register Of Historic Places in 1990. It is recognized as one of the oldest surviving original brick structures on our Circle.
Nowadays the Zachary Building is home to the Mamma Mia Produce and Italian Market on the ground floor. It celebrated its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting just 6½ weeks ago.
Meanwhile - upstairs - it's Audrey's Place (https://stayataudreysplace.com) - featuring two separate vacation (or staycation) boutique rentals that you can enjoy based on availability. Their fully equipped modern accommodations include "Studio 102" and "Circle Overlook Suite".
We're happy that both floors of our historic Zachary Building are thriving on our Circle !
